Plot Overview:
In the film, 'Evan Almighty' there are seven main parts to the movie consisting of: Change The World, Build An Ark, One Act of Random Kindness, You're Noah?, Pray For The Opportunity, Get on The Ark and You Did Good (in order). Each of these different parts of the film contain many minor sequences of events leading up to these seven main parts, as well as helping to differentiate them from each other. These minor sequences of events help to decide these part's action words, underlying themes and messages and literary forms, allowing a logical deduction to be made overall about the film's characteristics in terms of the various different parts mentioned before.
In the first part of the film the main character, Evan reveals his goal to change to word to God. Then in the second part God confronts Evan and requests that he builds an ark, as a flood will be coming. In the next part God and Evan discuss how exactly they are going to change the world. In the fourth part Evan truly realizes that he is in fact Noah and the huge amount of responsibility he holds. Then in the fifth part Evan explains the purpose of him building an ark and prays for the opportunity to change the world. In the next part the ark gets fully boarded and the flood begins. Lastly, in the final part Evan and God succeed in their mutual goal to change the world, and God complements and acknowledges Evan on what a great job he did.

Characters:
Evan Baxter - a TV reporter turn congressman with the goal and ambition to "change the world." He is approached by God who asks him to build an ark to help achieve this goal.
The Baxter Family - Evan's wife and three sons are happy with their new life. When Evan transforms into "Noah" his family panic and freak out, abandoning him. However, they eventually came back to support Evan till the end.
God - creator and ruler of the universe shares the same mutual goal as Evan to "change the world."
Congressman Chuck Long - a politician who is greedy and cares about nothing except money. Congressman Long cut corners for one of his bills, which is the cause of the flood.
Human Race - in the film, the human race is corrupt and unfaithful to God. However, it is not actually their wrongdoings that caused the flood, but more so the Congressman Chuck Long. Eventually when the flood begins and they realize their wrongdoings and came to join Evan and his family in the ark.
Animal Life - same as in the Noah Story.

Build An Ark:
- Evan meets God who wants him to build an ark
- Evan abandons this conversation between him and God - runs away
- God continues to pursue Evan to persuade him on building the ark
One Act of Random Kindness:
- God talks to Evan about them both wanting to change the world
- God enforces his will on Evan about him wanting an ark built by him
You're Noah?:
- Evan's wife confronts Evan
- Evan talks to her about his responsibility to build an ark - he is Noah
- Joan tells him to stop!
Pray For The Opportunity:
- God accidentally meets Joan - Evan's wife and discusses Evan's purpose to build an ark
- God manages to persuade Joan that her husband has not gone crazy and is simply following his will
- Joan realizes all that time that she has misunderstood her husband
- Joan returns to Evan and supports him from then onward till the end
Get on The Ark:
- Dam breaks in the city
- Evan tells everyone to get on the ark
- People go on Evan's ark
- Flood begins
You Did Good:
- Evan leaves his family to talk to God about him successfully completing his and God's mutual goal
- God and Evan have a discussion about their mutual success on changing the world, and God complements and acknowledges Evan on his work and effort
- Evan and God celebrate on their success by dancing together
- God leaves a dove behind for Evan representing peace and new life
